National Hispanic International Summit for Israel to Discuss Iran Deal
The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference’s (NHCLC) Hispanic Israel Leadership Coalition (HILC) joined forces with the Jewish Federation of Broward County and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee to hold its International Summit for Israel in the Fort Lauderdale area, Florida, this weekend.
The summit, which will focus on the Iranian nuclear agreement, comes on the heels of a 2-1 opposition vote from Florida residents.
“Never before has the Pro-Israel community had such a compelling reason to unite and stand together,” president of HILC Pastor Mario Bramnick said in a statement. “Discussions regarding the dangers of the Iranian Nuclear Deal will be front and center at the Summit, just days before Congress will vote on the approval or disapproval of the deal in September.
The public session on Sunday, August 30 at 6:30 p.m. EDT, will feature Joe Negron, Florida senate president, who will be discussing his landmark bill that cuts off the state’s contracting with businesses that participate in discriminatory boycotts against Israel.
In addition to Negron, other speakers will present in an effort to unite and support Israel, including Ron Dermer, Israeli Ambassador to the United States; Carlos Lopez-Cantera, Lieutenant Governor of Florida; Bramnick, president of HILC; David Ruben, former mayor of Shiloh,Israel; Dr. Alberto Delgado and president of the Pastors Association of Greater Miami. Florida members from both parties of Congress including U.S. Reps Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Alcee Hastings, Lois Frankel; Ted Deutch and Alan Grayson.
“The Iran nuclear agreement will be a disaster for the national security of America and Israel,” Bramnick said in a statement. “Congress must reject the deal. Iran is openly committed to the destruction of America and Israel, and we simply cannot afford to risk our future on a bad agreement that paves their way to a nuclear Iran.”
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT on Aug. 31, community leaders will join for the HILC Leaders Mobilization meeting during which topics of the Iranian deal, evangelical support of Israel, Florida anti-BDS legislation, spreading Israel’s message in Latin America countries, Jewish-Christian relations, Israel youth activation, and the rise of Hezbollah and Iranian influence in Latin America will be discussed by special guest speakers.
“Southern Florida is home to millions of supporters of the relationship between the U.S. and Israel,” said Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, NHCLC President, per the newswire report. “The purpose of the International Summit for Israel is to give voice to the community and open a discussion about the future of Israel at this critical moment in history.”
Meanwhile, Ambassador Ron Dermer has been steadily campaigning against the deal in an effort to thwart the pro-deal summit.
The free, public event on Sunday will be held at Nova Southeastern University Arena located at 3301 College Avenue in Davie, Florida. Monday’s leadership meeting will be located at Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El at 8200 Peters Road, Plantation, Florida.
